Today, one of my LJ friends reminded me that there was a wide world out of blogging sites outside of the journals like JournalFen and InsaneJournal and I've joined up with Blogger (I keep trying to type 'blooger'...)

My new journal can be found here: kimyoo-films.blogspot.com.

I'm still in the process of customizing it, but my knee feels weird (it's been bothering me lately) so I want to go sit on my couch with some ice on it.

I'll still post to LJ for a little while yet, until my blog is up and running and I feel confident that it's okay. I wanted something more professional anyway since I can't do my own website and I want it to be mostly words anyway.

edited to add: If you still want to read my movie reviews and notes about film festivals and various productions, but are remaining with LJ, I've got a feed out of my new home: http://kimyoo-films.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default

Again, the permanent move may not be for a while, but it's coming.

Today in 1993, The X-Files first premiered. What's your favorite episode? Have you ever experienced paranormal activity yourself?
Favourite episode of the X-Files: well, I usually say "Squeeze" and "Tooms," but then I start thinking about "Bad Blood," which makes me giggle every time I see it, and "Post-Modern Prometheus" is so sweet and well-photographed. "Ice" is another good episode. And you can't forget "Hollywood A.D." "The Unnatural" is sweet, too.

Gah!! Too many!!!

As for paranormal activity, yes, I have seen things I cannot explain away. I'm a pretty rational person and I explain things away with impartial logic, but in the projection booth at my theatre we have a couple of ghosts. There's the one I've never seen: The Man in the Brown Suit -- a couple of co-workers have and I believe them. Then there was a black shadow person, I watched that one walk into or through the wall, and a little kid in a red and white stripped shirt and khaki shorts. Finally, I was rushed by something as I was threading a projector in the far corner of the building, the one that's always creeped me out.

Other than a projector key being possibly thrown at me (no evidence for or against that one being paranormal, but I was solo that night), I haven't experienced anything else up there.

I received word today that my short film, "Without/Within," was accepted to the ShockerFest International Film Festival in Riverbank, California!!

They haven't locked down the schedule yet, but I was assured that the film will play. The festival is October 3-5!

Current Location: the stratosphere!

Hey y'all! It's time for BLITEOTW again! I love what you guys have written this year! Great stuff!!

No, I didn't forget about one of the coolest writing things EVAR!, I just didn't have any inspiration for it until 11:45 pm on the day, then it took me forever to get it posted because my phone wouldn't send the email so I had to feed it to myself piecemeal via Yahoo Messenger... Tedious, but effective enough.

I did zombies last year and just couldn't bring myself to do them again since I, again, had to work on the day and it could have been exactly the same, so I ended up writing a slightly Lovecraftian religious Apocalypse post over on my Blogspot.

I really like the basic ideas behind what I wrote and I'll probably expand it for a bigger story later.

Mulder, it's me...

We got these in yesterday (there were four in the tube, I had permission to take one.) I snagged mine last night. The only thing I have from the previous movie, which I think ended up falling off my bookbag anyway (*sadface*), was a pin given to me by one of the box office people because I'd purchased a ticket for every showing on the opening day, including the special midnight.

Yes, I watched The X-Files: Fight the Future seven or eight times in one day (if you include the Thursday midnight since it WAS technically shown on Friday)...and it was SO MUCH FUN. Would have been better had I a friend to sit with me, but none of my friends have that kind of patience...or love of The X-Files.

I did the same thing with Star War - Episode One: The Phantom Menace. That was decidedly less fun until the end Uber-battle between Qui Gon Jinn, Obi Wan Kenobi, and Darth Maul. I LOVE that fight. And, okay, I like the pod race...

Right now, I'm about eight episodes into the sixth season. So many memories...I love it!

This is my entry to the MySpace / George A. Romero three minute short zombie film contest.

Add to My Profile | More Videos

The contest goes by votes. If you're so inclined, please go to the video's page and vote how you see fit, "booyah" or "no way." To see the rest of the contest entries, just head over to the official Diary of the Dead MySpace.

The winner and runners-up get their film onto the Diary of the Dead DVD.

As I said, this video is part of the reason I haven't been around as much. I haven't even written reviews for the Blogger site of the movies I've seen recently (Be Kind, Rewind is possibly the bestest movie ever...and I don't like Jack Black very much. Holy God, it was GOOD!!!) The rest of it is that I've been reading and writing and playing Devil May Cry 4 and when I get online, I just seem to mostly lurk. I dunno...

Anyway, enjoy the flick!!

I'm going to go see this tomorrow (don't click if you're squeamish about one's insides being on the outside.) I don't know how we managed to get it, we're not a major city for Pete's sakes, but it is here, in Sarasota...at G-Wiz, of all places. Didn't expect that, that's for sure...

Loot what I gots fer Decemberween:

A glow in the dark Slashers t-shirt -- Evy and V.
A brain shaped jelly mold -- Evy and V.
A small piece of moldavite -- my bro.
A large hand embossed, hand bound leather journal -- my bro.
An Algiers labyrinth (for both mom and I) -- my bro.
Various healthy food stuffs -- my bro's girl.
The Dark Tower books (minus three and four since I have those) -- my mom.
And cash.

And what do I plan to do with said cash? Well, I'm glad I asked. I plan on making a couple of purchases, to be sure, but the majority is going toward the new short, which I hope to shoot in May of next year. April is the Sarasota Film Festival -- whether or not I'm in it doesn't matter, I'm gonna be busy with it -- and any earlier than that would be pushing it. And...it's gonna be a zombie movie!! WOO! I know, I know...no one's really surprised that it's gonna be zombies, but I have heard "Well, it's about time..." All I can say in response to that is that Without/Within was important to me and it was important that I get it done. Now, I can do some horror stuff. :D

After this next short, I hope to do a feature. Which one? I dunno. I'll cross that bridge when I get there.
